2025 TOURNAMENT TEAM INFORMATION

TEAM REGISTRATION INFORMATION

In order to participate in the 2025 Boston Unity Cup, team captains must register with a tournament staff member. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in the release of your spot in the tournament. Please choose the option that works best for you based on your availability and confirm your attendance plan with Tournament Commissioner, Danny Cueva.

Option 1: Register Virtually

Team captain/manager must review and complete this Google form electronically. ​

 

Then, schedule a virtual registration meeting with the Tournament Commissioner using this link.

Option 2: Register In-Person

Team captain/manager must schedule a time to meet in-person with Unity Cup Tournament staff during one of the dates below. At the meeting, please expect to review and complete this form.

  • Thursday, 2/6 from 4:30-7:30pm | Northeastern Crossing in Roxbury 

  • Monday, 2/17 from 3:30-6:30pm | Tatte Bakery & Cafe in Fenway 

  • Thursday, 2/27 from 4:30-7:30pm | Dorchester Brewing

Registration is due by Wednesday, March 5th with NO EXCEPTIONS.Teams are accepted on a first come, first serve basis with priority placement provided to past participants. A wait list will be kept in the event a team drops out prior to the tournament.

PLAYER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Player registration is expected to open on March 17. Team captains will be notified with further information once available.

DANNY CUEVA

Boston Unity Cup Tournament Commissioner

Danny grew up in the neighbourhood of Dorchester, playing football from an early age at the town and club level. From an early age, his passion for the game influenced his professional and academic aspirations. He graduated from BC High ‘13 and Boston College ’17 determined to pursue a career in football, with degrees in Operations Management, Leadership, and Philosophy. In 2021, he enrolled in the Football Industries MBA program at the University of Liverpool in the UK. After learning the ins and outs of the football business world and writing a dissertation on the commercial opportunities in Women’s Football, Danny returned to Boston in 2022. Upon his return home, he became involved in Boston’s football community, taking on numerous opportunities to volunteer and work with local football organizations. Danny now works with Soccer Unity Project, Kraft Sports Group, and Jamaica Plain Youth Soccer. In his free time, he manages and operates a grassroots football club with his friends, Flatley FC.

TEAM GUIDELINES

REGISTRATION DETAILS: Registration with a Unity Cup staff member is required and all team registration closes March 5, 2025. The commitment letter (below) must be completed in-person or via virtual meeting prior to this date. For Commitment letters received after this date - or after the tournament is full - teams will be placed on a waitlist. Priority will be given to returning teams from the 2024 tournament. All teams will receive confirmation of registration and participation for 2025 by March 14, 2025.

FAIR PLAY & SPORTSMANSHIP: Our team understands the spirit of fair play and the good sportsmanship expected by the Boston Unity Cup. We hereby accept responsibility to be a model of good sportsmanship that comes with being an athlete and will refrain from engaging in all types of disrespectful behavior, including inappropriate language, taunting, and unnecessary physical contact with teammates, opponents, volunteers, referees, and tournament staff. Our team understands that failure to do so may result in expulsion from this and future tournaments.

UNIFORMS: Our team understands that all jerseys will be supplied by the Boston Unity Cup and must be worn with matching shorts and socks during each Boston Unity Cup game. All players must wear shin guards - no exceptions.

COMPLETE BRACKET PLAY AND ATTEND PARADE OF NATIONS: All teams are guaranteed at least 3 matches in tournament play. All teams MUST play ALL matches and any succeeding final matches.  All teams MUST attend the Parade of Nations on opening day. Our team understands that failure to do so may result in expulsion from this and future tournaments.

ATTEND CAPTAINS’ MEETING + TEAM DRAW: Our team understands they are required to attend the Boston Unity Cup Tournament Team Draw and Captains’ Meeting set to be held during the week of June 2, 2025 (location TBA). All players are encouraged to attend, but at a minimum the Team Manager / Captain MUST attend. Our team understands that failure to attend this meeting may result in expulsion from the tournament.

TEAM ROSTER: Our team understands that we may carry a roster of up to 18 adult players (age 18+) with a minimum of 12 players from the country or with heritage of the country represented. Rosters and player photos are due by June 23, 2025.

RULES + PENALTIES: Our team understands we must review the 2025 Tournament Rules and follow them accordingly. Failure to uphold the standards of good sportsmanship and team commitments may result in immediate removal of player and/or team, and may result in the suspension from play the following year. All expulsions are determined by the Unity Cup Committee and deemed final.

VOLUNTEERS: Our team understands that we MUST provide at least two (2) volunteers for the tournament and that we must submit the names by June 18, 2025.

​

COVID PROCEDURES: The 2025 Boston Unity Cup will continue to abide by all procedures and requirements of the City of Boston for event and participants. Events and game play may be suspended or canceled at any time as required by the City of Boston.
